Everyone hears and feels them differently.
In Hammersmith Pro we give you lots of different ways to hear and feel it.
We hope you can create the piano you need.
When you play a note on a piano, one string rings.
When you play a note and press the sustain pedal, all the strings ring.
We recorded Hammersmith both ways.
21 velocity layers per note with sustain pedal up and down.
You'll hear the difference.
The main control panel. A simple layout with access to the mic arrays allow to you mix your sound without fuss.
Each of the 3 Hammersmith mic channels can be expanded to allow you to select from a choice of microphones, and shape each channel using EQ and envelpe controls.
Each channels has a choice of two different mic pairs.
Fine tune the response and performance of Hammersmith - tweak instrument noise details, fine tune the playing response to your exact touch.
Create unique rhythmic patterns for each note you play. A bit like a delay effect but evolves differently according to what you play - strands of sound weave in and out of each other.
The latest evolution of our generative arpeggiator - Hold a chord, and let it evolve - or loop a section and jam between 12 sequences.
Hammersmith can be completely re-tuned to your taste, without the need for a visit from an eccentric technician. Load preset tunings or create your own.
Hammersmith features a comprehensive effects page, with a configurable insert chain featuring Replika, Phasis and other cutting-edge NI effects. The Space Reverb module features Soniccouture's custom impulse library built up over many years and recording sessions.
You can dramatically change the way a sampled piano feels by adjusting the velocity response. Adjust the curve to concave, and the softer samples will be emphasised, tweak it more convex and the sound becomes much harder.
Hammersmith also features randomise controls to add human elements to MIDI parts - vary the velocity, add tiny timing variations.
Hammersmith's Tuning Control panel allows you to select from a wide-range of preset scales,
create your own, or simply tweak individual keys to suit your taste.
It's the little things that add realism; damplers, pedal thumps, key-off noise.
If you want more of these details, it's easy to turn them up, down or off with Hammersmith.
British Grove is Mark Knopfler's recording facility in Hammersmith, West London. Built in 2002 to represent the state of the art both in digital and analogue recording, there is no better studio in the UK. The recording room is large with a double height ceiling, and a very clear, pure acoustic.
An engineer sets up the M50 Decca Tree & other room mics.
The Hammersmith sessions were overseen by engineer Peter Henderson, best known for his work with Supertramp and Paul McCartney.

The placement of the Neumann KU100 head exactly replicates the player position.

Hammersmith was recorded using a rare Steinway Model D with a self-play MIDI system fitted. This meant we could get extremely, accurate reliable velocity samples from it, and we didn't have to use a player. No coughs, no mistakes, no breaks. The piano sat on it's own in a room for 5 days.. playing itself.
This is a Kontakt Player instrument. This means that you do not need to own the full version of NI Kontakt to use it. It will run as a plug-in instrument in any VST/AU/RTAS/AAX/WASAPI,compatible host program or DAW eg: Cubase, Logic, Ableton Live, DP, Reaper, Pro-Tools. No extra purchase necessary.
Requires KONTAKT 6 or KONTAKT 6 PLAYER version 6.6 or later
*Installation initially requires 2x 52GB disc space. Once install is complete then disc space required is 52GB.
A collection of 18 vintage synth instruments, sampled in detail and modelled in Kontakt.
The ultimate solo marimba :
A 5 octave Yamaha 6100, sampled in forensic detail.
Dusty and tatty, as a Wurli should be. And with a broken built-in speaker. So, we sampled that too.
The worlds' first synthesiser: 163 vacuum tubes power this 72 note polyphonic 500lb beast. Ethereal, ancient yet modern - the future sound of 1939.
A 5 octave (!), thumb piano from Array Instruments, made specially for Soniccouture. An Incredibly versatile instrument with a huge bottom end.
A suite of five complete Kontakt player instruments :
Plucked Piano | Mute Piano | Bowed Piano | Mallet Piano | SFX Piano
